In this video I explain that I didn’t sleep well this morning. The stress of that ruined my blood sugar: between 1:30 am and 9:00 am, I went from 175 to 320. Groggy and bleary start to the day at Nachi Waterfall in Wakayama Prefecture.
I took insulin and ate a small breakfast in my hotel room in Shingū, then took a local bus to nearby Nachi train station. Another bus took me from there up to Nachi Falls.
At the falls, being sprayed by mist, I checked again and was still high, but better, at noon: 263. I left it alone and continued walking around and hiking up to Kumano Nachi Taisha, the grand Shinto shrine on the mountaintop, and the attached Seiganto-ji, a Buddhist temple.
A couple hours later, as I sat in a small restaurant waiting for my soba noodles, I was down to a perfect 117. Exercise fixed it.
Despite my efforts to eat plenty, the next few BGs today were 73, 63, and 49. Lots of exercise, plus having been high at the beginning of the day, can make the road bumpy. That often happens: one thing, like not being able to sleep, has a series of knock-on effects on BG the rest of the day.
Well, at least I got rid of the highs.
